We are tired beyond belief but we had a super fantastic time!
Another AMAZING show by the kids from Center Stage resulted in 2 STANDING OVATIONS. Those kids were simply spectacular. Again, a hearty ""\job well done" goes out to Rick Robinson and his gang.
Results and Scrutineer sheets from all events will be available on line at www.emeraldball.com on Tuesday, May 8th.
Thank you all for your continued suppport......see you next year!

Saturday's Behind Us
And what a Saturday it was.....
Dancing With The Stars season 1 runner-up Charlotte Jorgensen (also a member of our esteemed competition judging panel) began our dance camp day with a couple of amazing classes focusing on exercises to strengthen and isolate areas of your dancing body.
Producers from Dancing With The Stars were seen scouting talent for Season 5 so watch closely as the next DWTS champion may be somebody you know and love to watch.
The super show put on by Rick Robinson and the kids from Center Stage (Utah-home of DWTS alum Ashley Delgrosso) was definitely the highlight of the evening......congratulations Rick!!
John Ashton, better known as Sgt. Taggert from the Beverly Hills Cop movies, was overheard talking to the organizers about a new show in development.
Our Open Professional Latin Championship was accompanied by a live percussion section featuring Brent Mills, Tony Delgado, Mark Weiss and special guest Ron Montez. This blogger sincerely hopes Wayne and Donna plan on making this an annual event.....who knew?
The ballroom was packed with a standing room only crowd who clearly enjoyed every moment.
That's it for now.
Until next time dance enthusiasts.

Day 2.....Friday
Here we are again folks.....a little more tired and a lot more to say.
We are thrilled to be able to say that for the first time in the history of the Emerald Ball we have sold out, to standing room only, every session so far......what an accomplishment!
Dance Camp started with a "light" latin workout with Bob & Julia......a bit understated as it was anything but light from what I hear. Bob & Julia use the Core Rhythms method to tone, strengthen and develop agility. For more information on Core Rhythms visit www.corerhythms.com. Also, Bob & Julia have many more titles available at Dance Vision. Click here for DVDs or here for Video.
Chris Johnston and his staff at Supershag have already started posting photos and results from this year's event.Click Here. Thanks Chris!!
Former United States Latin champion (partnered with Rick Valenzuela) Melissa Dexter was visiting from Italy where she lives with her 2 year old son.
Tonight's Professional events included the Rising Star American Rhythm, Rising Star International Latin and Showdance competitions.
By far, the most watched event however was the Duane May Memorial Ammteur Open Latin Scholarship.....watch for these up and comers in years the ahead.
There were professional video crews all around the ballroom tonight.....eyes and ears open everyone.....you never know when footage of the Emerald Ball might show up on your favorite television station.
That's all from L.A. dance enthusiasts.
Until next time.

Day 1 .....WOW!
Day 1 of the 2007 competition and Dance Camp is at an end and what a fabulous day it was!
Let's start with Dance Camp.......Michael Mead and Toni Redpath were our guest instructors today and I can tell you, everyone learned something and had a terrific time and lots of fun in the process. The ladies were raving about Toni's exercise class (the first class of the day). Look for a future DVD shhowcasing Toni's extraordinary teaching technique. To explore Michael and Toni's current DVD collection, visit www.dancevision.com. Tomorrow will be another fun filled day with 13 time, undefeated United States Rhythm Champions, Bob Powers and Julia Gorchakova in the a.m. and world-class competitor and coach Ron Montez in the afternoon.
On to the comp.........We held our 2nd annual Pro/Am Invitational Team Match with Vivo Dance Center taking top honors. Also in the running were Londance and Promenade.
We had our Pre-Teen and Junior Amateur Latin competition this evening......I swear I have never seen so many incredibly talented kids all in one place.....way to go guys!!
As promised, Dancing With The Stars favorite Tony Dovolani was on hand, signing autographs and taking photos with the younger competitors.....I've only seen kids clamor for the attention of an individual to this extent in one other place.....watch out Mickey Mouse......Tony's in the house!
Also putting in appearances tonight were DWTS alum Alex Mazo (season 1 champion), Edyta Sliwinska and Brian Fortuna.
The highlight of the evening had to be the Salsa Formation choreographed by Salomon Rivera of LatinHips.com......what made this routine stand out above the other entrants in today's events? The 10 dancers on the floor tonight were from the Braille Institute of anaheim......that's right....everybody dancing was blind.....and amazing!
And last, but certainly not least, 1996 Florida Gators Heisman Trophy winnner and NFL quarterback Danny Wuerfell and his wife Jessica will be guest of Fred Astaire Ft. Walton Beach Top teacher Joe Trovato on Sunday evening.
Well dance enthusiasts, that's all for this blogger.
Until next time.

10 Hours And Counting!
I finally made it! I've arrived at the fabulous Los Angeles Airport Hilton and Wow! What a place. The staff couldn't be nicer and the rooms are beautiful.
Our 2nd Annual Dance Vision Mastery Camp at the Emerald Ball begins tomorrow morning at 9:00. This year we are at very near our capacity of 80 participants. For more information on Dance Vision Mastery Camps, visit our website at www.MasteryCamps.com. We begin the camp on Thursday with a full day of instruction from 4 time, undefeated, United States Smooth Champions, Micheal Mead and Toni Redpath.....does it get any better than this?......wait and see!
Rumor has it that Dancing With The Stars Tony Dovolani may have some surprises in store for all of us this weekend as well. More info as it becomes available.
I would like to take a moment to thank everyone......Teachers, Students, Amateur and Professional competitors and Studio Coordinators (yes, even the late entries) for helping us make 2007 the best year ever! We couldn't do this without all of you!!
Until next time dance enthusiasts!

2007 Off And Running!
Here we are for another year of the FABULOUS Emerald Ball Dancesport Championships.
Last year we were amazed at the turn out but let me tell you, 2006 had nothing on 2007. Thursday is the first day of competition and we are at over 10,000 entries.
We are excited about so much more than the amount of entries. We are expecting some amazing people to be present at this years event......Karina, Tony and Cheryl from ABC's smash television series, Dancing With The Stars are going to be hanging around and Cheryl's mom, Sherri Burke, will be dancing with her teacher, David Weiss in this year's Pro/Am category.
MTV's "Made" is doing a segment on a young girl who would like to become a champion ballroom dancer and a camera crew will be filming sometime during the comp so look for that in upcoming episodes.
13 Time, undefeated United States Rhythm Champion Julia Gorchakova will be competing with her new professional partner Emmanuelle Pierre-Antoine. Expect great things from this pair.
Nobody wants to miss the unbelievable show put on by the kids from Center Stage Dance Studio out of Utah. Saturday Evening is sold-out (Standing Room Only) but there are still tickets available for Sunday (and don't forget Thursday and Friday).
I can't wait to tell you all about what's happening day to day. I leave for L.A. Wednesday evening and will be keeping you all updated on the who's and what's at this year's most spectacular DanceSport Competition.
Until tomorrow. Keep Dancing!
